Golden Path
From a foreseen future to futures that cannot be seen.
The Golden Path is neither a prayer nor a one-time ceremony. It is the name of Leto II’s plan for humanity’s long-term survival. It appears as a choice of future in Children of Dune; in God Emperor of Dune, it becomes central to a long program of government and transformation.
Later novels unfold within this project’s consequences: the Scattering, returning communities, and a future that cannot be wholly captured by a single vision. Making the Golden Path solely a symbol of salvation obscures its cost. The animation therefore begins with one line and opens into branching paths; the text leaves the contradiction between forced direction and liberation unresolved.
