The Dar-es-Balat archive
The discovery underlying the encyclopedia’s research narrative.
Overview
In the introduction to The Dune Encyclopedia, an excavation machine’s arrival at the God Emperor’s no-room is presented as the beginning of the discovery of a wealth of texts and information.
Place in the universe
Because only a small portion of the archive has been translated and evaluated, the work speaks through historians working with incomplete knowledge. Within this framework, finding documents is not the same as knowing the entire past with certainty.
