An adult Reverend Mother opens herself to the layers of the past after her own identity has formed. The pre-born face a different difficulty: they confront many powerful adult identities before their own personality has become secure.
Relationships and consequences
The Baron's growing influence within Alia shows the political consequences of this vulnerability. The ruling body belongs to Alia, but the will behind its decisions becomes increasingly uncertain. Ghanima and Leto establish different inner arrangements against the same threat.
A suggested reading
In the sixth book, Sharing brings memory's protective side to the fore. The experiences of Sisters rescued as Lampadas is destroyed are transferred to other bodies. The disappearance of a place does not necessarily mean the complete end of its culture.
