Duncan’s Ginaz training

The path from Atreides loyalty to sword mastery.

Overview

In House Harkonnen, twenty-year-old Duncan’s conversation with Leto reveals that he has been accepted into the Ginaz academy. He has reached the limits of Thufir Hawat’s training and is moving on to a new stage.

Place in the universe

In the same conversation, the novel recalls their eight-year separation and Duncan’s childhood escape from Harkonnen captivity to refuge on Caladan. Military mastery is thus told alongside personal indebtedness and loyalty to the House.
